สวัสดีครับ (sà-wàt-dee káp) from Chiang Mai!
It's my first day in Thailand, and it’s been an amazing start. I landed at the airport, and my host family was kind enough to pick me up. We headed to the night market, which was filled with so many different kinds of food. I got to try some authentic pad Thai and lots of different grilled skewers—it was really delicious!
While we were eating, he shared his story with me. He grew up in Thailand, and sadly, his parents couldn't take care of him when he was a child. He and his sister were taken in by a Christian children’s home. Every summer, missionaries from around the world would visit, and he was amazed by the love they showed. It made him wonder about why they were so kind and loving, he had never met people like this. When he was 15, he became a Christian too.
As he grew older, inspired by the love he was shown as a child, he started working at a children’s home, and it was there that he met his wife, who was also serving kids in Thailand. Together, they made it their life’s mission to start their own children’s home for kids without parents. After some time, they bought a big piece of land, built a small building, and now run amazing programs for children in the community. On Saturdays, they hold kids clubs, and they also visit juvenile detention centers in Thailand and do outreach there.
This week I’ll be teaching ukulele and music classes at their home. I got to meet some of the kids here already and they are all so cute! I can't wait to see what God will be doing this week.
Please remember the music program and this beautiful place in Thailand in your prayers!
